Meet the Woman Behind SBF.
This Is Why I Built This For You.
When I realized I had to do life on my own, I made a lot of mistakes along the way — because I just didn't know any different. This isn't a comeback story, and I'm not writing it to help me get ready for someone new. Single Bougie Free is what I built instead: a place for women learning to heal, pour into themselves, and thrive — on purpose, out loud, and without apology. Here's what that's taught me.
Single for a Season,
Single by Choice
Being single hasn't been a waiting room for me — it was never something to survive until the next relationship started. I've found that joy doesn't come from a relationship status — it comes from making peace with myself, choosing who gets access to my life, and having a close relationship with God. I've watched every version of "single" play out around me, and none of them are wrong: a sister happily married 20 years who still knows exactly who she is outside that marriage. Another divorced 6 years, in a new relationship, who never lost herself getting there. And then there's me: divorced for 1 year, walking across a graduation stage in 90 days. There's no timeline. There's no wrong way to do this. There's just you, choosing you.
Teach Me How to
Bougie
Bougie isn't about the price tag for me — it's about believing I'm worth investing in even when no one's watching. I protect three things fiercely: my body, my rest, and my mind. That's looked like a low-impact Pilates class instead of skipping movement altogether, a guided sleep story instead of doom-scrolling until 2am, a private journal I actually write in instead of a wellness app I downloaded and forgot. None of it required a big budget — it required deciding I was worth the effort.
Ain't No Feeling
Like Being Free
Free doesn't mean untouched by hard things for me. It means I've stopped white-knuckling my way through them. If you're in the thick of heartbreak, rediscovery, or just plain uncertainty right now — don't give up. I've learned grief isn't linear, and healing isn't a task you complete once. It's anxiety I'm learning to sit with instead of run from. It's forgiveness I choose on purpose, for others and for myself. It's staying accountable to the person I'm becoming, even on the days it's tempting not to.
Being Single, Bougie, and Free is a way of life. I have no regrets about doing the work. You can too. I believe in you.
